LNC Certification

Why should I become certified as an LNCC?

If you are a registered nurse interested in increasing your opportunities in the medical-legal field, LNCC certification may be the right choice for you. Certification as an LNCC will provide you with the proper credential to enhance your professional development, stimulate career growth and offer objective validation of your legal nurse consulting experience.

LNC Certificate Programs in Indiana

In the Fall of 2000, the Indiana University-Purdue University campuses at Indianapolis, fondly known as IUPUI, offered its first Legal Nurse Certificate Program through IUPUI's Community Learning Network.

This 10-month long program introduces nurses to the legal concepts expected of a nurse who hopes to practice in the legal environment.

At the end of the program, a nurse receives a certificate verifying successful completion of the program. This is not the same as "LNC Certification" or the "LNCC" Credential. To understand the difference, please visit the webpage at the American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants at www.aalnc.org. Once there look at the left-hand menu. At the bottom click on "Certification."  It will take you to resources that will help you understand the difference between "Certification" and getting a "Certificate."

You may also visit the website for the IUPUI Community Learning Network found at www.cln.iupui.edu/content.asp?area=CS

This is where you will find the Legal Nurse Consulting Certificate Program.  It is a wonderful way to build your local network and experience an internship in a practicing law firm in your area.
